Based on the CMF B-EV platform shared with Renault.

Likely to debut in 2025.
The Nissan Micra’s successor will be an electric hatchback based on a shared ground-up electric vehicle (EV) platform. We’ll see the new CMF B-EV platform in 2024, and it’ll be capable of delivering up to 400km of driving range.
The upcoming EV was part of the carmaker’s Alliance 2030 announcement.
Nissan, alongside its alliance partners Renault and Mitsubishi, has drawn out a strategy for electrification with a common roadmap for 2030. The three carmakers will share five electric car platforms for the majority of their lineups, including the CMF AEV platform that currently underpins the Renault Kwid-based Dacia Spring compact electric hatchback.
A total of 35 models are in the works between the three carmakers, and 15 of these will be based on the CMF-EV SUV platform that underpins the Nissan Ariya.
The Nissan Micra successor is likely to be equipped with vehicle-to-everything technology. According to the company, the “software defined vehicles will be able to communicate with connected objects, users, and infrastructure.” V2X is an advanced connected car tech that unlocks potential for future developments in road safety. The electric hatchback could also be one of the first vehicles to get over-the-air performance updates.

It’s hard to tell from the global announcement where India figures in Nissan’s plans. The carmaker currently sells the Nissan Magnite sub-4m SUV and Kicks SUV, but given India’s nascent market for electric cars, it’s unlikely that we’ll see Nissan and Renault’s current crop of global EVs – the Ariya and Megane e-Tech – anytime soon.
As for the electric Micra successor, it’s too early to tell if or when it’ll arrive in India. Nissan already claims that its platform is more cost-effective than the Renault Zoe platform and that battery costs will also go down by 50 percent in 2026. But whether the electric hatchback makes sense for India based on the country’s policies remains to be seen. Expect the EV to be unveiled globally in 2025 as a rival to the Volkswagen ID.3, Mini Cooper SE, and the Honda e.
